Abstract

The main aim of the present thesis is focused on the preparation and characterization employing elemental analyses, thermal (TG and DrTG), spectral (IR, UV-Visible, 1H-NMR and ESR) mass and magnetic measurements of new complexes of 2,4,6-tris-(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPTZ) with V4+, Ce3+ and Rh3+ metal ions. The geometries are suggested for the prepared complexes based on the data evaluated from spectral and magnetic measurements; the complexes of Rh3+ and Ce3+ have octahedral geometries, while the complexes of V4+ have square-pyramidal geometries. The molecular modeling are drawn and showed bond length and angle, chemical reactivity, energy components and binding energy for all the title compounds Also MEP, were calculated for both ligands using DFT method. Detailed thermal analysis for the prepared complexes was performed in the temperature range 30- 1000˚C. the behavior of the complex in solution by using two spectroscopic methods (continuous variation method and molar ratio method (MR)) show that TPTZ coordinates by ratio 1:1 with V4+, Ce3+ and Rh3+ metal ions. The redox behavior and electron transfer properties of V4+ and Ce3+ complexes wear investigated by CV and provide important information about oxidation states of an element in a compound as well as compounds stability in the solvent system in which it is studied. The antibacterial activity and the cytotoxic activity were applied for most of prepared metal complexes.
