Abstract
Aim of this study was to assess the effect of partogram training program on upgrading of nurses’ practices and labour outcomes at Mansoura University Hospital. The setting of this study was labour and delivery ward at Mansoura University Hospitals. Study design: quasi – experimental design was used to undertake this study. Type of Sample; Nurses: convenient sample. Women: purposive sample of parturient women with the inclusion criteria. The study sample consisted of two groups; all nurses in labour and delivery ward (24) and parturient women (226) who were admitted to labour and delivery unit in the time of the study according to certain criteria and divided into two groups (control group:113 parturient women and intervention group:113 parturient women). Three tools were used to collect the study data; structured interviewing questionnaire, observational checklist and maternal and fetal assessment sheet. The main results were improvement of nurses’ knowledge and practices and also labour outcome after the training program. Conclusions were upgrading of nurses’ practices and labour outcomes at Mansoura University Hospital after partogram training program.
