Abstract Background: Diabetes mellitus is accompanying with an extensive list of problems, it is often associated with reduced bone mass and delayed fracture healing. The bone graft is one of the first choices selected in this problem. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of osteon 2 collagen in bone development in diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: group A left side (A-LS) ► osteon 2 collagen free sub groups and group A right side (A-RS) ► osteon 2 collagen subgroup. group B left side (B-LS) ► osteon 2 collagen free sub groups. And group B right side (B-RS) ► osteon 2 collagen subgroup. Each group was further histological assessment either at 1th, 2nd, 4th and 6th weeks of follow up. Results: Histological examination showed that the bone healing was increased and enhanced with new bone graft material (osteon 2 collagen) in diabetic animal. Conclusion: Created on the previous results we conclude that administration of osteon 2 collagen in diabetic rats with mandibular bone defect leads to Enhancement of matrix formation resulting in acceleration in the rate of diabetic bone healing and increased activity of bone formation resulting in acceleration of the rate of diabetic bone healing. |
