Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of fixed functional appliance therapy (semi-rigid type) on the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) in Skeletal Class II malocclusion subjects as compared to untreated matching control subjects using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT).
Outcome measures:
1. Clinical Evaluation:
a. Clinically recognized TMJ Disorders
2. Three Dimensional CBCT evaluation of the following structures:
a. The TMJs (Primary Outcome)
b. The maxillary and mandibular bases (Secondary Outcome)
c. The dentoalveolar structures (Secondary Outcome).
