Abstract

This study about Emerging from the Shadows of Silence : A Cultural Materialist Reading of the Literature of Dissent of Post-World War II britain and Post-Setback Egypt so it contains countering hegemony, Dissent in Post-War british Literature, The Beauty of Reading Dissidence in Post-Eetback Literature, Subalterns and the Struggle for Voice and conclusion.
- The Aim of this thesis is to investigate how the advent of cultural materialist in the mid-1980s has radicalized the field of literary and critical studies, since it signalled a break with liberal humanism and underlined the great significance of treating literary texts on an equal basis with texts and documents of all kinds.
