Abstract
Background, Head nurses are aware of their day to day feed-back regarding performance as one of the best methods for improving work performance and building a team. Aims, is to assess the effective elements of building nursing teamwork on performance of head nurses units. Setting the study was conducted at all units of Main Tanta University Hospital Subjects, included (47) head nurses worked in the Main Tanta University Hospital Units and (350) staff nurses worked in the same units. Tools, data were collected using two tools, tool (I); Performance of head nurses toward five elements that building effective teamwork, it contained two parts (part I) demographic data and (part II) : included 37 interview questions related to five elements of building effective teamwork. Tool (II); staff nurses opinion about performance of head nurses units related to applying the same five elements. Results, all head nurses were aware the importance of the five elements to building nursing teamwork, and the majorities of them were applying these elements. While, head nurses were moderate applying to these elements as showed by approximately half of staff nurses Conclusion, Effective teamwork is essential to an organization to view their performance in terms of efficiency and effectiveness in achieving their mission, purpose or goals. So there were five elements of building effective teamwork namely.
