Abstract

The present work included 50 patients with known or suspectedmediastinal lesion. They were 26 males and 24 females. Their ages ranged between five and 73 years The main aim of the study was to assess the role of multidetector computed tomography in evaluation of mediastinal lesions and recent advances provided by the modality All patients were examined using using 4 and 6 multi-detector CT scanners-GE light speed and Siemens’ Emotion 6-respectively. The scan parameters used in routine chest examination were 120 kVp and 200 mA per slice lower dose (90 kVp and 200 mA) were used in pediatric patients Table speed 7.5 mm per rotation; slice thickness 2.5 mm; slice interval 2.5 mm and detector collimation 5 mm CT aortic angiography was done in known or suspected patients with aortic lesion. The scan parameters were 120 kVp and 250-300 mA per slice; Table speed 15 mm per rotation; slice thickness 2.5 mm; slice Interval 1.250 mm and detector collimation 10 mm.
