Abstract Hyaluronan (HA) is a naturally occurring, biocompatible polysaccharide with unique viscoelastic and hygroscopic properties. Its role as a natural lubricant and its excellent water-retaining properties make it well-suited for use in ophthalmic products ( Marjorie, 2011). The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of sodium hyaluronate eye drops in treatment of dry eye disease. The diagnosis of ocular surface disease is based on the patient’s symptoms and medical history which should include questions about topical and systemic medications used and possible exposure to aggravating factors ( Behrens et al . , 2006). Also Management of ocular surface disorders requires thorough history and ophthalmological examination . The incorporation of a questionnaire may facilitate the evaluation of patients and aid in setting a diagnosis (Snjezana et al . , 2013) . In this study the OSDI questionnaire was modified to include the follow-up visits ; And named as Shaimaa modified OSDI questionnaire to be used for the 1st time in this study for collection and follow up of symptoms data. |
