Abstract
Stereotactic radiotherapy first introduced by a neurosurgeon Lars Leksell ,
firstly used for treatment of brain tumors using Gamma knife.
Advancement in treatment delivery and immobilization led to
development of stereotactic body radiation therapy for treatment of spinal
tumors and tumors outside the C.N.S. as lung and liver tumors using
many devices like Cyberknife and dedicated Linear accelerators.
All these advancement has led to treatment delivery with high accuracy ,
decreasing dose to normal tissues and increasing dose over target
volume , and this results in survival benefit.
