Abstract Bed ridden patients in PICUs require specialized care, as they are exposed to hazardous complications due to immobilization in many body organs as highpostatic pneumonia in respiratory system, foot drop, muscle atrophy in musculoskeletal system and other threatened complications due to impaired protective reflexes. Any bedridden patient is totally dependent on nurses for support and maintenance of all basic functions as well as prevention of immobilization hazards.(R) The current study aimed to assess the nurses’ knowledge and practice related to physiotherapeutic techniques for bedridden children in PICUs and evaluate the effect of the educational training techniques on the nurses’ knowledge and performance regarding physiotherapeutic techniques for bed ridden children in the intensive care unites. The study was conducted at pediatric intensive care unit in Mansoura University children Hospital and Tanta University Hospital. A convenient sample of 60 nurses working at different intensive care units with bed ridden children who had respiratory and musculoskeletal problems was included in the study. |
