Abstract Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin, usually localized on the facial convexities. The disease usually starts at the age of 20-30 years with possible progression in the next decades of life. It occurs more commonly in fair skinned females. It is considered a syndrome of combination of primary and secondary features which are grouped into four clinical subtypes: ETR, PPR, phymatous and ocular. The evolution from one subtype to another is possible but does not occur in each case. Rosacea can be a disfiguring disease and is accompanied by psychological stress. Many individuals with rosacea have low selfesteem and poor self- confidence, which also negatively affects their professional and social interactions. |
