Abstract We were aiming in our study to compare between the effectiveness of topical application and systemic administration of Tranexamic acid in reducing intra-operative bleeding and reducing the rate of primary and secondary hemorrhage. This study was performed on 90 children. All patients were subjected to primary adenoidectomy at the Otorhinolaryngology department of Tanta hospitals and Damanhor teaching hospital in the period from July 2014 to May 2015 . We randomly dividing the patients into three surgical groups , 30 patients each, assigned to : Local TA (n= 30) which is the 1st study group packed by a gauze wet in 5 mL Tranexamic acid was applied locally immediately post operatively in the adenoid bed. Systemic TA (n=30) which is the 2nd group by mixing 5mL Tranexamic acid with 5ml normal saline and was givin slowly intravenous peri-operatively with gauze wet in 5 ml saline applied post operative in the adenoid bed. |
