Abstract The rate of twin births has dramatically increased in the last decades mainly as a result of the development of assisted reproductive technology (ART). Discordant growth is a relatively common finding in multiple gestations. The underlying mechanisms of discordance may be very different in monochorionic and dichorionic twins. Neonatal or congenital growth hormone deficiency has been described as a rare form of growth hormone deficiency: in two series 1.8% and 5% of growth hormone deficient patients had clinical signs shortly after birth. |
