Abstract

This study was carried out at the Clinical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, El-Minia University Hospital. It was conducted on fifty nine subjects selected during the period from May to November 2014.
Subjects included in the study were divided into two groups:
Group I: It included forty two patients of chronic hepatitis C and on the basis of liver biopsy results group I was subdivided into group Ia and group Ib:-
Group Ia : It included twenty eight patients and their liver biopsy showed mild fatty changes.
Group Ib: It included fourteen patients and their liver biopsy showed moderate fatty changes.
Group II: It included seventeen apparently healthy volunteers who served as control subjects.
All subjects included in the study were subjected to the following:
Thorough history questionnaire:
2- Clinical examination:
3-Laboratory Investigations:
A-Routine:
Complete Blood Count (CBC).
Prothrombin Time and Concentration (PT and PC).
Random blood glucose level.
Renal function tests (urea & creatinine).
Liver function tests (bilirubin (total &direct) ,AST, ALT and albumin).
Total cholesterol &triglycerides.
B-Special:
Plasminogen activator inhibitor in plasma.
Plasma Fibrinogen.
The results of this study were summarized as follows:-
TLC and HB were significantly lower in patient group when compared to control group. However there was there was no significant differences in platelets count between patient and control group.
