Abstract Major research avenue of the last decade has been to determine how the immune system benefits from the intake of dietary antioxidants. Dietary antioxidants are known to increase the immune response. The best sources of antioxidants for humans and animals are fruits and vegetables, where flavonoids reach extremely high concentrations. Flavonoids are not only among the most common antioxidants in nature, but also those with the highest antioxidant potency in vitro. Phenolic compounds are a large group of phytochemicals widespread in the plant kingdom. Phenolic compounds have received considerable attention for being potentially protective factors against cancer .The mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are not completely understood, but it is generally hypothesized that the ingestion of antioxidants may reduce the deleterious effects of free radicals on the immune response. The aime of the present study was to evaluate some potential therapeutic effects of some mixtures fruit juice which rich in natural antioxidant as flavonoids and phenolic compounds and their effect on blood antioxidant as an indicator of the situation of immunity. Using normal and diabetic children and compare the results of it with control groups and groups was taken chemical antioxidant. Fruits (plum and grapes) Roselle as herbalists in addition to Honey and sugar obtained from Samanoud market, Gharbia, Egypt. Juices were extracted by electric juicing .Chemical composition of juices was determined (ascorbic acid, Total soluble solids, Ph value, total Phenolic compounds and total Flavonoids). Chemicales of glutathione-s-transferase, glutathione reductase and glutathione reduced were obtained from Beta, Alelmy Compan, Mansora, Egypt. The tryptone nutrient agar obtained from Agriculture faculty- Minufiya University as a gift. One hundred and twenty children mean weight (50±10 kg) divided into two groups normal and diabetic the normal group admitted to El Sida Zinab School -Met Badr, Gharbia, Egypt. where is the diabetic one admitted to Mansoura university children hospital each groups divided into subgroups male and female. Every child as taken 100ml of juice daily for four weeks as follows:- Group 1: Zero time parameter (8 members). Group 2: (control Group) drinking no juice (8 members). Group 3: Antioxidant group) take a dietary supplement Selenium-ACE tablets effect of selenium, Vit. A, Vit. C and Vit. E, manufactured by Sigma. (8 children). Group 4: Drinking juice consists of mix 1. Group 5: Drinking juice consists of mix 2. Group 6: Drinking juice consists of mix 3. Group 7: Drinking juice consists of mix 4. At the end of the experiment blood samples were obtained in clean dry centrifuge tubes from vein. Blood samples for hemoglobin were taken by heparinized micropipette and heparinized micro hematocrit tube for determination of packed cell volume (PCV). Blood was centrifuged for 10 minutes at 3000 rpm to separate the serum, which were kept in tubes at –18ºC till analysis. And biochemical analysis was carried out in Mansoura university children hospital Laboratory, Mansora, Egypt. Blood samples were used for determination of the concentration following parameters: 1- Activity of blood antioxidant (glutathione reduced , Glutathione transferas and redactas). 2- Liver function tests: Glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) and Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT). 3- Kidney function tests: (urea, creatinine). 4- Cbc tests (Hb, Rbcs, Platlets, wbc and Lemph) 5- Blood glucose test. The obtained results showed that: CMix3(plum25% |
