Abstract

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the principal winter crop in Egypt and the most important cereal crop in the world. The world production of wheat exceeds that of any other cereal crop. In many respects it represents the main human food. Wheat is the major bread making cereal, and Egypt has to supplement its production by importing just over half of its needs to satisfy the annual demands (Abo Soliman et al., 2008). Wheat is the world’s most important crop which provides about 20% of energy requirements in human diets. According to Food Policy International Center estimation, global wheat demand will increase greatly by 2020, while available resources are faced with restrictions for crop production. Therefore, it is expected that approximately 100 million Mega gram of wheat supply shortage would exist in the world markets in the afore mentioned year (Ahmadi et al., 2004). The current study aims to investigate the effect of organic manures from different sources individually or combined with ammonium nitrate fertilizer on: i) yield production and protein content, ii) nutrients uptake by plant, iii) chemical constituents of plant, iv) soil chemical properties, and v) availability of some nutrients in the soil at harvest. Effect of potassium humate rates and application methods on the above characteristics is also investigated.
