Abstract

The conclusions from experimental and numerical studies may be divided into four groups; the first group deals with the stability of sand slopes without piles, the second group summarizes the stability of stabilized sand slopes with piles, the third group concerns with the stability of clay slopes without piles and the final group presents the stability of stabilized clay slopes with piles. 6.2 Stability of sand slopes without piles 1- The maximum depth of soil movement in slip surface doesn’t exceed 30% of slope height. 2- As the angle of friction of sandy slopes increases the depth of the soil movement increases. 3- As the slope angle increases the depth of the soil movement in slip surface increases. 6.3 Stability of stabilized sand slopes with piles 4- The presences of piles in sandy slopes has a minor effect on the F.O.S of slope; the maximum (FSI) % doesn’t exceed 13% 5- As, the length of piles increase, the (FSI) % increases, until the piles length reaches the value of the effective length (Leffe), after which the (FSI) % of the slope remains constant and thus achieve the ultimate increase (FSIu) %.
