Abstract

This study deals with the effect of bacterial endotoxin of two haclcrial strains; Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki & B. thuringiensis var. israelensis as well as transgenic plants on some biochemical functions of experimental animals (mice). The obtained results are summarised as follows:-
I. l fl’ccl of JJ. tlmriugieusis mr. kurstaki on different panunctcrs of kidney and liver functions:
1.1. Kidney function:
B. thuringiensis var. kurstaki endotoxin applied in a single Jose feeding showed insignificant changes in the level of blood urea or creatinine concentrations with different endotoxin concentrations used (I, 2 & 4 gm/L.). On the other hand, when the toxin was applied accumulativcly, the urea concentration increased significantly 35 days after continuous feeding on treated food by about 12.4% than that of control. While, there was no significant change in the level of
creatinine concentration.
