Abstract

The present work has been carried out to investigate the role of different factors affecting the physicochemical, s 1rf21cc, cat.dytic activity and durability of Fe201-Cr20J/Ah01 mixed oxide solids. These factors
include chemical composition, thermal treatment conditions, doping with
forei3n oxides and exposure to different doses of ionizing radiation. The different mixed oxide samples were prepared by mixing a known weight of finely powdered AI.(OH)3 wiTh a calculated amount of C.r()l and impregnating with a elution containing a calculated llmount of ferric
nitrate. The solids were dried at 120oc and calcined at temperatures varying hetween 400 and IOOO C. Ten mixed solids samples were prepared and having different contents of Cr20) ranging between (0.77 and II wt. %) and I’C201 ranging between (I 6.2 and 42.1 wt. %). The
thermal be-haviour of the prepared solids was studied by using DTA, TG
tc ;hniquc:s. The difierent phases produced by heating the prepared samples at various temperatures were identified through XRD analysi$. The surface characteristics, namely, SiJecific surface area (Su .-r), total pore volume (Vp) and mean pore radius (r) of the thermal products were studied via nitrogen adsorption isotherms at -i96•c.
