Abstract Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is an inevitable event during many clinical situations including liver trauma and is intended during liver surgeries to minimize bleeding. It is believed that I/R-mediated hepatic injury has been resulted from both oxidative stress mediators including reactive oxygen/nitrogen species and also from the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The present investigation was carried out to clarify the hepatoprotective effect, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory role of some natural products particularly (Curcumin, 11-keto-BA and Ginkgo biloba) against hepatic I/R-induced injury in improving the liver status through measuring selected parameters such as: 1. Liver function tests: ALT, AST and LDH activities. 2. Pro-inflammatory cytokines: TNF-α. 3. Hepatic GSH content. 4. Hepatic lipid peroxides content: (measured as MDA). 5. Hepatic NO content: measured as nitrate/nitrite. 6. Hepatic iNOS expression. 7. Hepatic platelet activating factor & platelet aggregation. |
