Abstract The current evidence• in medical literature point out that elevated soluble vascular cell-adhesion molecules (sVCAM) can be of a high predictive value of the severity of pre eclampsia and its possible consequences to the products of conception (Lyall et al. 1994) This study a prospective case-control study designed to correlate between soluble form of vascular cell adhesion molecules-! (sVCAM-1) and different degrees of pre eclampsia as well as its possible consequences on fetal growth. Forty-two third trimester primigravid women with various degrees of pre-eclampsia [mild (22) & severe (20)] were recruited for this study, and compared wilh 20 healthy primi-gravid women with uncomplicated pregnancies as regard their age, gestational age, foetal birth weight, placental weight and the incidence of abnormal gross placental morphology, these results were correlated to sVCAM-llevel.
