Abstract

One of the major problems in IUI is in determining good media and type for semen processing to reach to a good final result for motility, count and morphology sperms used in IUI.
So, the present study aimed to assess whether using different type of media and semen processing could be an indicator for improvement of semen criteria for IUI and a pregnant result. To achieve this target, the present study 200 patients. They were subjected to careful history taking, thorough clinical examination, routine laboratory investigations. IUI procedure was performed according to the standard protocols.
In the present study, the studied women had a mean age of 26.3 ± 1.64 years and a BMI of 26.8 ± 1.51 Kg/m2 while their husbands had a mean age of 35.1 ± 2.3 years.
Regarding the reported pregnancy rate in the current study, we revealed that among the studied women, 30 (15.0 %) achieved pregnancy while 170 (85.0 %) failed to get pregnancy.
In relation to the association between pregnancy outcome and the demographic data, we found that non-pregnant women had significantly higher age when compared with pregnant women.
In our study, no statistically significant differences were found between pregnant and non-pregnant women regarding maternal BMI ,husband age and regarding cause of infertility .
In our study, we found that pregnant women had had significantly higher frequency of one IUI cycle , the current study found that women with successful pregnancy had significantly better sperm concentration and motility before and after preparation when compared with failed pregnancy, the current study found that successful pregnancy had significantly higher frequency of abstinence prior to insemination, higher frequency of preparation time less than 60 minutes and higher frequency of gradient method of semen preparation.
