Given the increasing rates of economic development and population increase steadily, it has exacerbated the challenges of municipal solid waste management in all parts of the world both at all levels, and the effects were negative very clearly, especially in developing countries, it has become a one of the most important environmental priorities, which requires a rapid process of through the activation of an integrated system to manage solid waste which can protect the environment, public health, and the national economy, and activating the principles of sustainable development. In Egypt represent the management of solid waste a huge problem, where the total amount of municipal solid waste generated in 2010 about 20 million tons, and estimated annual increase of 3.2% is generated approximately 75% in urban areas, and hazardous environmental practices increased the suffering for the high infection of diseases caused by environmental degradation. The research aims to study the activities of solid waste management proposed for the strategic development planning of the city and its role in supporting the objectives of the city’s development strategy, by comparing the strategic plans prepared for the proposed three Egyptian cities” the city of Tala - the city of Wadi El-Natron - City of Qus”.
Research illustrated that the omission of many solid waste management activities in proposed plans for the three cities have a negative impact on the objectives of these plans.
