Abstract

This study aims to assess the effect of Protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR-1) expression in acute leukemia patient’s prognosis as well as response to therapy. The study has been carried out on 59 patients with acute leukemias(50 AML, 9 B-ALL) including 37 males and 22 females, their age ranged from 16 to 73 years and their mean age value of 37.95 ± 14.92. Results: The number of acute leukemia patients positively expressed PAR-1 was 29 out of 59(49.1%), A statistically significant difference could be detected between PAR-1 positive group and the PAR-1 negative group regarding to some bad prognostic features. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that PAR-1 overexpression might play an important role in determining the biological behaviors as well as tumor burden, which subsequently determining the severity status of acute leukemia’s and might represent a therapeutic target for the development of new therapies.
