Abstract 1. The aim of the present investigations is to study the cytogenetic effect of the herbicide ”2,4- D’’ and the carbamate insecticide ’’Carbofuran” on mouse bone-marrow cells and spermatocyte cells, in order to evaluate their potential mut agenecity. 2. The two pesticides were tested for: • Induction of micronuclei in mouse bone-Marrow. • Their ability to induce chromosome aberrations in mouse bone-marrow cells. • Their ability to induce sister chromatid exchanges (SeE’s) in mouse bone-Marrow cells. • Their ability to induce chromosome aberrations in spermatocyte cells. • The doses used in all test were: a) ”2, 4-D” b) ”Carbofuran” 30 mg/kg body wt. 0.025 mg/kg body wt. 3. Intraperitoneal and oral treatments with ”2,4- D” and carbofuran induced a statistically significant increase in the percentage of I BfKAWSR•4J |
