Abstract

Skin cancer represents 0.31 % of total ACOD patients.
 Patients where categorized into two categories, non melanoma and cutaneous melanoma skin cancer.
 In non melanoma, surgery was done for 54.2% of cases, and 71.2 % of cases received radiotherapy, where the most commonly prescribed dose was 50 Gy/25 fractions for the squamous cell carcinoma and 45 Gy/25 fractions.
 In melanoma, chemotherapy was the main line of treatment for 61 % of cases; DTIC was used as monotherapy or in combination in 33.3% of cases.Radiotherapy was given as a palliative treatment in metastatic cases.
 Lack of data acquisition and deficient records are the main problems that interfere with statistical analysis and study results.
In view of these observations, we may suggest the following recommendations:
1. A national cancer registration is mandatory.
2. We should recommend the initiation of a computerized automated filing system rather than the manual medical records to improve registration, data information system and documentation. ( Appendix I )
3. Investigational drugs, continued phase one evaluation of chemotherapeutic agents, biologic agents that target gene expression and immunologic agents is needed.
4. We should recommend a multidisciplinary management of skin cancers including the oncologist, surgical oncologist, dermatologist, pathologist, psychological support, nursing team as well
