Abstract Dealing with a patient with blunt abdominal trauma has a special scheme to reach the decision whether to explore the abdomen surgically or not , and at first to save the patient life and to avoid missing any dangerous injury which may lead to death or at least to major complications . This scheme is based on many factors including , primary management , physical examination from head-to-toe , history , investigations , and the most important part which is the diagnostic procedures . The primary management starts in the pre-hospital period just after occurrence of trauma , passing on the method of transportation till reaching the hospital , and this is a very important part forming with the primary assessment and hospital management the major percentage of saving the patient life, by maintaining a patent airway and controlling hemorrhage . Head-to-toe examination is very important and must be done carefully to gain information as much as possible about the case and injuries which occurred due to the trauma . |
