Abstract The present thesis casts light on the recent remarkable development in discovering a novelty in the field of technology which has led to the emergence of nanotechnology. This has become connected to our daily life starting from turbo micro-computers, stainresistant clothing to the treatment of cancer patients. The manufacture of many of the products on the market today depends on nanotechnology. The coming decades are expected to witness an enormous breakthrough in this kind of technology. This thesis is divided into six chapters which review this topic in an orderly, scientific method. It analyses and discusses the definition of nanotechnology, its contributions and its effects on architecture and the present-day architect. Nanotechnology, the science of manufacturing material at a tiny scale, creates new possibilities to make dramatic improvements to our lives, yet its impacts on human health, the environment and society are uncertain and demand our urgent attention. If we want to ensure that the benefits of nanotechnology exceed its risks, we need a system that assures safety while providing transparency for both businesses and the public. |
