Abstract The ant species diversity was studied, in South Sinai & Dak.hlyia governorates representing desert and agriculture ecosystems respectively, and along different elevational gradients. This study showed that, the ant diversity has higher values at higher and lower elevations. In addition, seven species were new records to the Egyptian fauna. A new species to Science Tetramorium salwae was described from Sinai. Moreover, the DNA quantity, RNA/DNA ratio and proteir content of the irradiated Cataglyphis niger (Andre) increased in 20 GY dose as compared to control and other treated samples. The RNA amount increased in the 10 GY irradiated samples as compared to control. |
