Abstract The present study aims at the investigation of the expression pattern of leptin and its receptors in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to evaluate its relationship with the degree of angiogenesis and clinicopathological features of patients with HCC. Thirty patients with HCC on top of cirrhotic liver and twenty patients with liver cirrhosis were selected to perform the study. They were compared to twenty subjects with normal liver as a control group. All cases were subjected to: - Full history taking. - Complete clinical examination. - Laboratory investigations including: Complete blood count. * Liver function tests. Serological viral hepatitis markers. Alpha-fetoprotein level. - Abdominal ultrasonography. -Triphasic abdominal computed tomography. - Liver biopsy: liver specimens were examined for: Diagnosis of liver cirrhosis. Diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. |
