Abstract The present study was planned for the synthesis of some new spiropyran using microwave irradiation. The starting material 1H-indole-2,3-dione (isatin) 371a,b or Indol-3-carbaldehyde was reacted with malononitrile (372), and/or acetylacetone, ethyl acetoacetate, dimedone, cyclopentanone, cyclohexanone, cycloheptanone, barbituric acid, 3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one and rhodanine or some phenols namely; hydroquinone, catechol or pyrogallol using diammonium hydrogen phosphate (DAHP) as a catalyst in aqueous ethanol (H2O∕EtOH) in microwave (180 watts) for 4 minutes afforded the corresponding pyran derivatives. And reaction of 1H-indole-2,3-dione (isatin) 371a,b with malononitrile (372), and/or some phenols namely; phenol, resorcinol, 4-chlororesorcinol, 1-naphthol, catechol, 1,5-dihydroxy naphthalene or 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene in saturated solution of K2CO3 in microwave (360 watts) for 4 minutes afforded the corresponding pyran derivatives. |
