Agriculture has several important roles to play in the development of a country. The agricultural
sector is the source of manpower for industrialization. The agricultural sector is needed to supply
food for the growing population and raw materials to industry.
The large share of national income is generated from agricultural sector.
Virtually all developing nations today accept planning as an essential means of guiding and
accelera ting their development. Therefore, economic planning
is widely used in developing countries.
The subject matter of this thesis is to study the agricultural development of Sharkia Governorate.
’l’he study is divided into five chapters.
The First chapter: presents the major features of agricul tural economic structure in Shai·kia
Governorate.
’l’he Second chapter:deals with the economic development and economic planning;
The Third chapter: includes an economic analysis of the agricultural production in Sharkia
Governorate.
The Fourth chapter: outlines an anlytical study for the cropping pattern system in Sharkia
Governorate.
The Last chapter: contains the basic structure of the linear programming(LP) model which applied to
the agricul tural sector in Sharkia Governorate.
