Abstract The problem : The difficulties which the Arab learners face when communicating, reading or translating from English into Arabic, and vice versa. It highlights the significance of English culture-bound linguistic structures. Objectives of the study : This work aims at investigating the pragmatic significance of culture-bound linguistic structures. It also aims to pinpoint the points of similarity and difference between English and Arabic in this respect. Division of the study : This research consists of 4 chapters. The first chapter includes the introduction. The second chapter includes the review of literature and theoretical framework. The third chapter is the fieldwork. The fourth chapter includes the findings and conclusion of this research. It also presents a set of recommendations and suggestions of further research. Results of the study : The results of this study emphasize, among other things, that awareness of the socio-cultural background of linguistic structures is vital for grasping their real significance. |
