Abstract

The aim of the present study was undertaken to find a friendly environmental method to ramp up such stresses with no relapse. A number of green chemicals were chosen to produce healthy plants. Attempts were carried out by isolating eighteen fungal species belong to nine genera from faba bean seeds. Data presented a greater number of the isolated fungi in case of using the standard blotter method (SBM). As Botrytis fabae is one of the main invading pathogens to this crop. In vitro studies to evaluate the effect of selected antioxidants especially the aromatic ones as well as some micronutrients on linear growth and mycelial dry weight of B. fabae as well as the germination of seeds when soaked in the water solution of these chemicals. Also, the results illustrate plants free from chocolate spot syndrome on the old plants when the above combination was applied as seed soaking followed by three successive sprays on 30 days old plants with interval of 15 days. In addition, a significant increase in the growth parameters, yield components, photosynthetic pigments, total phenols, proline content and antioxidant activity (IC 50%). As the concept was designed as attempts to conquer the chocolate spot disease of faba bean and scale up its production and improve the quality of the seeds. The results evidenced that the combination of HQ + SA + Fe at 15 mM, 3 mM and 4g/L in form of soaking + three times of spraying of water solution of the combination significantly increased growth parameters, yield and yield components, photosynthetic pigments, total phenols, proline content and antioxidant activity (IC 50%), total phenols, total protein content, antioxidant activity in the yielded seeds.
