Abstract Olea europaea and Ficus carica leaves were collected locally from their natural habitats in Egypt (Delta region); test plant leaves were authenticated by Professor of Taxonomy, Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, Mansoura, Egypt. O. europaea and F. carica leaves were washed several times and allowed to dry at room temperature for 3 weeks. Leaves crushed and crude extract of olive and fig leaves was obtained and 200 gm of pulverized material was soaked in 250 ml solvent (ethyl alcohol, Analar grade). The mixture was left at room temperature for 72 h with frequent stirring every 24 h. Soaked samples was filtered in a fume chamber and allowed to evaporate at ambient temperature. Extracts obtained were stored at 4°C in dark for subsequent testing using in the in vitro screening tests. |
