Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate the changes in hematological and biochemical parameters as well as histopathological pictures and immunostaining of NF-Kβ induced by LPS injection and the protective role of licorice and curcumin.
In this study, 80 adult male wistar rat (180 – 220 gm) were used. Rats were divided into 4 groups, group was used as control and others 3 groups were used as treated as follows:
A – group 1: Control group (c): consists of 20 male rats were injected subcutaneously with 1 ml of sterile saline once.
B – group 2: LPS – group (LPS): consists of 20 male rats were injected subcutaneously with 20µg/kg.b.wt (36 x 1011 CFU / m1) once.
C – group 3: LPS+Curcumin group (Cu): consists of 20male rats, which were given orally by gastric tube at dose 300 mg/kg.b.wt for 7 days after and before LPS injection.
D – group 4: LPS+Licorice group (LI): consists of 20 male rats were given orally by gastric tube at dose 100mg/kg.b.wt for 7 days after and before LPS injection.
