Abstract This study presents economic dispatch problem of thermal power station which are necessary for the issue of reducing the cost of electricity production in conjunction with emissions reduction from power plants while meet a system constraints also take into account the valve point effect which occur when each valve starts to open. The solution of the economic dispatch problem has been done with taking into account the emissions constraints and the impact of valve point effect using three types of techniques which are: classic Lagrange technique , simulated annealing (SA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to reach the optimal solution with the use of a new approach using curve fitting method to simplify the section on the impact ofvalve point effect in the fuel cost function and turn it into second order equation . The proposed techniques were tested on standard system IEEE -30 bus with different cases of load. The study discusses also the unit commitment problem with taking into account the emissions constraints where the problem is solved by using particle swarm optimization based on the same approach used to simplify your impact valve point effect and the proposed method has been tested on 10 units system in (24 hours) test period with different types of price penalty factor. |
