Abstract

The main objective of the current research is to produce non- conventional forages from vegetable crop residues via solar drying.
The specific objectives of this study are as follows:
6. Studying the effect of chopping lengths and drying bed depths on the drying rate and drying efficiency of peas residues (vine).
7. Investigating the influence of drying air velocities (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5m/s) on the evolution of drying rate.
8. Enhancing the efficiency of postharvest processes of agricultural production
9. Determining the moisture content and drying rate of peas residues and
10. Developing an empirical equation for the drying rate which represents the solar drying process.
Drying experiments were conducted with an average ambient air temperature of 26.4±2°C. Air relative humidity did not exceed 62% and the averaged of solar radiation incident ranged between 597.74 and 801.87W/m2.
