Abstract The western desert of Egypt covers an area of about 681.000 km2 and comprises almost two thirds of whole area of Egypt . it extends 1000 km from Mediterranean shoreline in the north to the Sudanese border in to south . it consists of flat plateaus with several facing quests and dunes cover large parts near Libya . number of topographic depressions are predominant in the western desert , bahariya, Farafra, Kharga , Siwa with flood level above the sea level ,whereas Qattara and Fayoum depression below the sea level by about 137 and 45 respectively. |
