Abstract The present work, aimed to identify yeasts isolates that were isolated from fishes using by phenotypic method, also evaluated the ability of two techniques (RapID Yeast plus system and molecular method) in identification of yeasts and tested the isolates against antifungal drugs. Twenty seven diseased Oreochromis species, 22 Clarias gariepinus and 21 Mugil cephalus were collected from fish pond in El-Dakahlia Governorate. Investigation of the affected fishes showed hemorrhage on skin, darkness of skin, and ulceration may necrosis present, roughness of scales, destruction of fins, erythema at the base of fins, congested gills, liver was enlarged friable and kidneys were congested . Samples were collected from skin, gills, liver, kidneys, spleen stomach and intestine. The higher incidence of yeasts in three fish species were in skin 33.95% followed by gills 23.25% then internal organs and lower in kidneys 8.37%. Mycological examination revealed the isolation of 215 isolates that expressed by 74, 77 and 64 in Oreochromis spp. Clarias gariepinus and Mugil cephalus respectively, were represented in five yeast genera. Phenptypic methods and enzymatic RapID yeast plus system are not accurate in identification of most yeast species. RapID yeast plus. |
