Abstract

The hormonal and metabolic changes accompanying leaf development of Eucalyptus camaldulensis, starting from the juvenile leaves and ending with the senescent and abscised ones were investigated in the present work. In addition the analysis of bark was also carried out. Also, the effects of leaves and bark extracts on germination and seedling growth of Eruca sativa, transpiration rate and closure of stomata in Vicia faba plant cuttings and rooting of Coleus cuttings were also studied. In addition, the allelopathic effects of water extract of leaves and bark of Eucalyptus on germination, growth and flowering of Phaseolus plant were also investigated. The water extract of juvenile leaves induced stimulatory action while that of mature and senescent ones and bark inhibited the germination and growth of Phaseolus plants. The water extract of bark is the most effective in this respect.
