Abstract In the present work, we synthesized series of new sensitizers characterized for high efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells. In chapter 1, present a general introduction on the DSSCs and kinds of sensitizers were used in DSSCs. As for chapter 2, we reported the synthesis and characterization of two terpyridyl ruthenium (II) complexes entitled DH-1and DH-2. A bidentate ligand with carbazole was used as the donor ligand and terpyridine as an acceptor. DH-1 and DH-2 showed of 4.68% and 3.82%, respectively. In chapter 3, three novel organic sensitizers were synthesized based on triphenylamine, as the core donor, linked to one, two or three carbazole moieties with different number of anchoring groups to generate DE1, DE-2 and DE-3. DE-3 produced the highest of 5.44%. In chapter 4, we synthesized two sensitizers called DE-4 and DE-5. In DE-4 and DE-5 dyes, the electron donors are connected through ethylene linker and cyanoacrylic acid was used as the electron acceptor. Additionally, the effect of using different concentrations of TiCl4 (0.04M and 0.2M) on the photovoltaic properties of DE-4 and DE-5 was investigated. On the basis of optimized conditions, DSSCs based on DE-4 and DE-5 exhibited of 5.40% and 5.70%, respectively. |
