Abstract The current study is in-vitro study comparing the retention force and stress analysis of two different retainer systems (BOA and BEA) for implant retained maxillary obturator. Three implants of the same size were inserted at the pre maxillary region of the intact side acrylic resin model for class I aramany classification. A universal testing machine was used to measure the retention at a zero level (T0), 90 cycle(T1) , 270 cycles (T2) , 540 cycles (T3), 810 cycles (T4), 1080 (T5) , 1620 cycles of (T6) and 2160 cycles (T7) respectively. The data were statistically analyzed by Aasistat 7.6 statistics software for Windows (Campina Grande, Paraiba state, Brazil). P values ≤ 0.05 are considered to be statistically significant in all tests. The results showed that the base level retention force was 23,6 newton for BOA and about 12,3N for BEA. Irrespective of attachment type, totally it was found that Baseline subgroup recorded the highest retention force mean value followed by 90 cycle then 270 cycle, 540 cycle, 810 cycle, 1080 cycle &1620 cycle meanwhile the lowest mean value was recorded after 2160 cycle. Strain gauges bonded to mesial surface of the mesial implant. Buccal and palatal surfaces of the middle implant. Distal surface of the distal implant. The vertical static load of 100 N was applied at the previously determined loading points on the obturator prosthesis for the two bar designs. The result show that generally micro strain values for BEA less than that of BOA. |
