Abstract

This study was carried out in one of compost factories in Sadat city
Menoufia Governorate in 2011.These studies aimed basically to making
engineering studies on agricultural residuals recycling. These agricultural
residuals are:
1‐ Fields wastes (shredded rice straw).
2‐ Animals wastes (manure)
3‐ Food processing wastes, sugar cane factories wastes (press‐mud or
filter‐cake).
After preparing these wastes turning processes has been done on all
piles of these wastes in the filed with numbers of frequently turning three
times per week, two times per week and one time per week.
Through the composting period the effect of frequently turning on
the follower parameters and quantities are measured: composting period,
Piles temperatures, Piles moisture content, Piles reducing ratio, Final
product and its quality and the end of the experiments an economics
studies have been done.
The experiments were designed as a follow:
Experiment No. 1 & 2 & 3; manure only with Turing three times &
two times & one-time respectively per week. After repairing the raw
materials manure only the piles were done with dimensions 150 meters
length, 2.5 meters width and 1.2 meters high. It has 230 m3of manure and
moisture content 55%-60%.
Experiment No. 4 & 5 & 6; mixed manure and rice straw (with ratio
1:1) with turning three times, two times and one-time respectively per week
with dimension 60 m long, 2.5m width and high was four layers which the
first layer was 40cm rice straw, the second layer was 40 cm manure, the third layer was 20cm rice straw and the fourth layer was 20 cm manure for
all piles and the moisture content was 55%-60% for all piles. The pile was
quadrangle phase at the beginning of composting and before doing the first
turning. However, after turning the piles the first turning was taken the
triangle phase with the new dimension 2.5meters width, 1.4 meters high
and 60 meters long and it volume was 180 cubic meters from mixed.
Experiment No.7 & 8 & 9; mixed manure and press mud (with ratio
1:1) with turning three times, two times and one-time respectively per
week. After repairing the raw materials manure and press mud the piles
were done with dimensions 150 meters length, 2.5 meters width and 1 -1.25
meters high. It has 230 m3of manure and moisture content 55%-60%.
Another two piles were designed from manure and press-mud which
the one of them the press mud was added to manure pile in half of the
composting period. The other press-mud was added to the manure pile after
the stability to see what time press-mud needs to become available and
save costs and time.
The composting was aerobic; the mechanical turning was done by
turning machine which traced with tractor by the rear shaft PTO. Then
temperature, moisture content, reducing ratio, composting period and final
product were measured.
from results found, the temperature reaches its maximum quickly
when piles turning three times per week for all piles, the moisture content
decrease with increasing the composting period and frequently turning, the
reducing ratio decrease with decrease the composting period, the higher
product was at the higher frequently turning and the composting period was
decrease with increasing the frequently turning.
