Abstract Introduction: PCO is the most common cause of anovulatory infertility which affects 4 – 7%. Clomphiene citrate was 1st line of treatment. CC resistant defined as failure to ovulate after receiving 150 mg for 3 months. There are many strategies to overcome CC resistant as corticosteriod and laparoscopic ovarian drilling. Methods : this study was conducted at Ain shams maternity hospital infertility outpatient clinic including 60 patients .30 patients were assigned to have letrozole 2.5 mg from day 2 of menstrual cycle for 5 days for 3 successive cycles as induction of ovulation in clomphiene citrate resistant PCO women and the other group of 30 patients were assigned to have tamoxifen 20 mg from day 2 of menstrual cycle for 5 days for 3 successive cycle to assess pregnancy as 1ry outcome and successful ovulation with at least one follicle more than 18 mm and endometrial thickness at day of HCG administration as 2nd outcome Results: letrozole was more effective in achieving ovulation and better endometrial thickness and higher pregnancy rate but was not statistically significant |
