Abstract
Cancer continues to represent the largest cause of mortality in the world, the second leading cause of death worldwide next to cardiovascular disease. Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cellular growth, local tissue invasion and distant metastasis. Free radicals are one of the major causes for the conversion of normal cell to cancerous cells. Overproduction of free radical and reactive oxygen species (ROS) would assault on important biological molecules such as DNA, protein or lipid to many degenerative disease, such as cancer. An extremely promising strategy for cancer prevention today is chemoprevention, which is defined as the use of synthetic or natural agent (alone or combination) to block the development of cancer. Medicinal plants maintain the health and vitality of individuals and can cure various diseases, including cancer without causing toxicity through its immunomodulatory properties by stimulating both nonspecific and specific immunity.
