Abstract

The partogram (sometimes known as partograph) is usually a pre-printed paper form on which labour observations are recorded , the aim of the partogram is to provide a pictorial overview of labour, to alert obstetricians to deviations in maternal or fetal wellbeing and labour progress.
Items recorded during monoitring labor progress using WHO partogram are: patient identification ,time, fetal heart rate ,state of membranes and colour of liquor ,cervical dilatation and descent of head ,uterine contractions ,drugs and Fluids ,Blood pressure,Pulse rate, oxytocin ,Urine analysis ,Temperature record.
Early detection of abnormal progress of labour and prevention of prolonged labour would significantly reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage and sepsis and eliminate obstructed labour, uterine rupture and its sequel.
The present study was conducted on 100 patients in two groups first group partogram is used in monoitring labor progress ,but the second group no partogram is used all cinical data of labor progress(cervical diltation, station , effacement ,rupture of membranes, uterine contraction),and foetal wellbeing was recorded in partogram graph .
After collecting the results from our data sheet and analyzing them, we found that most of patients included in the study have better labor progress better rate of cervical diltation ,less complication of prolonged labor due to early management.

Most of our patient in partogram group delivered vaginally (90%) and 10% only is delivered cesarean section, less augmentation by oxytocin and antibiotic administration , no effect on maternal complications partogram also improve foetal outcomes show less foetal distress , improve apgar score in first minute and after five minutes and decrease the need of neonatal administration at incubators.
