المستخلص Abstract: This study deals with the issue of professional work conflicts in the field of libraries in the Libyan universities, the problem of the study is latent in the determination of the concept for the professional conflict, its causes, types, negative and positive effects, extent of its relation with the duty performance and methods adopted to resolve thereof. The study depended the surveying method, whereby questionnaire was the main tool utilized to gather the scientific material of the study. The most prominent results concluded by the study are as follows: 1. The concept of the professional conflict between the Managers differs from that between the employees, having that the negative concept is the one prevailing over the viewpoint of the managers, while the positive concept prevails in the viewpoint of the employees. 2. The causes of professional conflict between the managers are in the destructive criticism, and between the employees in the dependent relationships. 3. The conflict types are represented in the level of the individual for both the managers and the employees. 4. The negative effects of the professional conflict to the managers are represented in the weakness of the overall performance and the spread of the bad performance phenomenon to the managers, and to the employees it is represented in that the professional conflict leads to the infection of the individual with psychic disturbances 5. The positive effects left by the professional conflict to the managers were represented in finding a sort of coordination and linkage between the departments and organized groups, but as for the employees they were represented in the increase of the professional performance efficiency, that are the positive effects of the professional conflict. 6. The relationship of the professional conflict and duty performance to the managers was represented in the keenness to organize courses and workshops for the employees to improve their performance, but for the employees, they have informed that the professional conflict leads to further phenomenon of duty negligence. 7. The method of cooperation was the most peculiarly used method to the managers, but as for the employees, the medium solution method was the most prominently used method in conflict settlement. As the study has presented some recommendations that may help in the professional conflict settlement in the library work environment. |
