Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most frequent chronic in flammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS), predominantly affecting the white matter but also parts of the gray matter.( Wattjes et.al 2007). Our study included thirty patients with known MS lesions in the brain. Different pulse sequences (T2, FLAIR & DIR) were used to detect the brain lesions especially the cortical and juxta cortical lesions. our results showed that eight patients from the thirty appeared having cortical & juxta cortical lesions. DIR images can detect more lesions with good differentiation between pure cortical, mixed gray/ white matter & juxta cortical lesions. We recommended: 1. Adding the DIR sequence as a routine modality in patients with suspected MS due to its higher sensitivity in detecting the MS lesions especially in the infra-tentorial, juxta-cortical and intra-cortical regions. |
