Abstract HCV comprises major public health burden. Egypt has the highest prevalence in the world (14.7%). Persistent HCV infection may lead to chronic hepatitis, fibrosis which may progress to cirrhosis in 15% to 20% of cases within 20 years. So estimation of fibrosis progression represents an important surrogate endpoint for assessing the outcome of HCV infection. |
